Trend map about intelligent clothing and biometric information

Kuva
Smart wearables that are available to be used in this day and age mostly consist of wearables for hand such as rings, watches and wristbands. There are also some smart t-shirts and jackets, but most of the time they need to be connected to a phone so the smart features can be used. Analysts of Gartner predicts high growth in wearable technology sales and shipments from 2019 to 2022. Specially smart watches, head mounted displays and earworn smart wearables are going to gain great popularity according to Gartner’s analysis. The expected growth of smart clothing is more calm, but by 2022 Gartner predicts the amount of shipped units to be 19.91 million units, as it is currently 5.65 million units. There is a link further down the text for this analysis. Our trend map consist of current smart clothes and wearables, different measured metrics and what future technologies can make possible regarding to measured metrics and features for smart wearables. They relate to our topic...

Standards guide and set limits for design projects

Ergonomics of human-system interaction (ISO 9241:210) standard can be used to evaluate our processes and to identify different needs and wants of users and potential customers. We can use it as a guideline to make sure, that we are actually doing human-centered design, not just by our own definitions, but according to generally accepted and standardized way. This is important especially in the field of design, because a lot of work in the industry is called for example human-centered design, although it is necessarily not design at all. Therefore, if the process follows the definitions of ISO standard considering human-centered design of interactive systems, it is legit to call it human-centered design. There are also other ISO standards related to our topic. Work safety is highly standardized area.  ISO 45001 is an international safety management system standard. At this point our topic is still in the process to be more defined, so we do not know yet what specific standards ...

Team formation of Add_name_here

Our group name as of now is ‘Add_name_here’. Our team consists of Sami Soininen, Jouko Makkonen and Mikael Mansikka. The topic of our project is "Intelligent clothing and biometric information supporting work safety." Sami Soininen is 3th year student and his major is mechanical engineering. He has also taken studies in software systems. Jouko Makkonen studies for 1st year in Master’s degree program in Human-Technology Interaction. Prior to that he has a Master’s degree on Theology. In HTI studies Jouko focuses on UX and human-centered design. Mikael Mansikka is 4th year student at TUNI. His major is Signal Processing and Machine Learning.  For communication we use Whatsapp. For sharing files and creating text we use Google’s Cloud services and Docs. Our blog is posted on Blogger.  We discussed about goals briefly. During that conversation was mentioned at least learning about human-centered development, passing the course, getting company contacts and doing...
